About Us

Saving Lives since 2007

The Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals (ESMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, protecting, and advocating for Egypt’s most vulnerable animals. Since our founding in 2007, we have worked tirelessly to provide shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation for thousands of abused and abandoned animals.

Our mission is simple: to create a world where every animal is treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.

Our Story

ESMA was founded in 2007 in response to the urgent need for animal rescue, protection, and advocacy in Egypt. What began as a small group of passionate individuals determined to make a difference has grown into one of the country’s leading animal welfare organizations.

Starting with just 48 cats and 60 dogs, ESMA now cares for over 2,000 animals, including dogs, cats, a donkey, and a vervet monkey. Over the years, we have built two shelters, established Egypt’s largest TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program, and rehomed countless animals both locally and internationally.

From Rescue to Reform

Through dedication and community support, we have:

✅ Saved and rehabilitated thousands of animals
✅ Built safe shelters to provide long-term care
✅ Expanded adoption and international rehoming programs
✅ Led TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) initiatives to humanely manage stray populations
✅ Advocated for stronger animal protection laws and awareness.

A Future of Compassion💙

We believe in an Egypt where animals are treated with kindness and respect, and where cruelty is replaced with care. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and education, we are working toward a future where no animal is left behind.

💙 Join us in making a difference—every action, big or small, helps change lives.
